10 Effortless and easy weight loss tips
You don’t necessarily have to follow a strict, structured diet plan and exercise regime to lose weight, you can lose weight by just making a few simple lifestyle adjustments. Losing weight isn’t easy and keeping the weight off, is even less easy, so here are ten tips on how to lose weight effortlessly that you can adopt either on their own or alongside a more structured weight loss program:
1. Buy some smaller plates
This is purely psychological, but it works! Most people are taught from an early age that they should eat all that is put in front of them, to clear their plate. So, if you have large plates, you put more on them to fill them up and then you will eat it all. So, a simple solution, buy some smaller plates.
2. Don’t rush your food
The faster you eat, the more you will eat. It takes around twenty minutes before your body tells your brain that you’re full. So, if you eat quickly, by the time your brain gets the message, you’re not full, you’re stuffed! Eat your food slowly, savor the flavors and chew your food thoroughly and you will eat less.
3. Eat more vegetables
Increase the variety of vegetables in your diet; increase the portion sizes of vegetables and you will fill yourself up with healthy, vitamin and fibre rich food instead of useless calories.
4. Take the stairs
When faced with the choice of the stairs or the escalator, you know which one you should choose. Taking one flight of stairs will take hardly any extra effort, but if you do that each time you get the choice, you will be doing yourself a huge favor.
5. Walk a bit faster
Just adding a bit of pace to your normal walking speed will help you lose weight. Try humming a little upbeat tune to yourself when you walk, you will soon find that you are walking in time to the beat and giving your heart a little workout.
6. Avoid eating on the go
It is widely accepted that if you eat while doing something else you will eat more. For a start, if you don’t concentrate on what you are eating, you will lose track of how much you have eaten. Make the simple commitment not to eat in your workspace or in front of the TV, but instead sit down at a table, and you will find that you eat less.
7. Remove temptations for the home
Stock your kitchen with healthy foods and snacks and you won’t be tempted to overindulge. You’re not completely denying yourself, your favorite foods altogether, but if they’re not easily to hand in the home, you are less likely to binge on them.
8. Eat real food, just eat less
If you cut out all the foods that you love in an attempt to lose weight, then you are far more likely to give in and binge. A little of what you like won’t do any harm, just be sure that it is a part of a balanced diet and you cut down on your overall portion sizes.
9. Cut down on takeaway food
Getting food delivered to your door is nice and convenient, but takeaway food is, in general, some of the most fattening food that you can eat. You have no control over portion size or ingredients and they are often heavily laden with salt and other unhealthy flavor enhancers, so treat takeaways as an occasional treat, not part of your regular diet.
10. Get your exercise where you can
You don’t need to go to a gym or follow a formal exercise routine to lose weight, though it would obviously help, you can get more exercise simply by thinking fit, in your day to day life. Take the healthier option of walking, rather than driving, the stairs instead of the elevator and just by putting a little more effort into everything you drop can help to raise your heart rate and burn off some calories. This, combined with some sensible eating, will all help you lose weight, effortlessly.
