10 Beauty Tips For Men
Hi guys! Okay, so we know why you’re here: You want to feel better in your own skin by looking more awesome. And it’s totally true that it isn’t just women who need beauty tips. After all, guys have skin too, and guys know that things do sometimes go wrong with their largest organ.
If you’ve been walking around lately feeling down in the dumps because you don’t feel as though you look your best, you might have wanted to ask other people for beauty tips but backed off because guys are all about beer, football and video games, right? They don’t need beauty tips!
You couldn’t exactly pause FIFA for a few minutes while you asked your best pal “Gazza” if he knows how to cure dry skin, could you?
But it’s cool. We won’t tell anyone you’ve been here. So without further ado, here are 10 awesome beauty tips for men.
I have a male friend who complained to me a few months back that he always gets winter skin. I asked him why he hadn’t done anything about it and he just shrugged and said, “winter will soon pass.”
Firstly, winter last for three months. Three really long months. That dry skin isn’t going anywhere quickly.
Secondly, why suffer with itchy and unattractive skin for so long when you don’t have to?
There seems to be a stigma attached to moisturising with guys, but moisturising your skin is just SENSIBLE!
If you’ve got dry, flaky skin, use moisturiser at least twice a day.
Go Easy With The Hair Products
Many guys like to style their hair using gels from the supermarket. The problem is, though, that these hair gels sometimes contain alcohol.
Why is this a problem? Because alcohol is what makes your hair spiky and hard. It’s what makes your hair look okay but not awesome.
In future, try to avoid hair gels that contain alcohol and instead have a play with matte-finish pomades and waxes. These will be kinder to your hair – as long as you use them in moderation. This means that instead of splashing a gallon on your head, try to limit yourself to a penny-sized amount.
Buy The Shampoo That Is Right For You
If you live with your partner of parents, you probably use whatever shampoo is in the bathroom. Why bother to buy your own? You’re a guy, after all! You don’t want to get clocked buying shampoo in the supermarket by your best mate!
“Um. I bought it by mistake!”
Listen, there is no such thing as “one size fits all” when it comes to shampoos. There are many different types, and what might work fabulously for your partner or mom might be what is giving you an itchy, dry scalp.
Take some time to find a shampoo that is right for you.
Use A Conditioner!
The amount of times I’ve got a nonplused response from my guy friends whenever I’ve asked them if they use conditioner is incredible.
“Conditioner? Is that a new game?” they ask.
“Sounds like a new game.”
No. Just no. Conditioner is actually essential to the maintenance and well-being of your hair, whether it’s short or long. It keeps your mane looking healthy and stops it from drying out.
Get Yourself A New Barber
I know what you’re doing and saying. You’re waving your hands at me and shouting indiscriminately that “I’ve had my barber since I was five! He knows me better than my own mom!”
No. He knows how to cut your hair the same way he did since you were five-years-old. That’s all.
So many guys pick a hairstyle when they’re boys and stick to it for life. So many.
But as you get older, the size of your head changes. Therefore, it needs to be framed differently. What worked when you were five doesn’t necessarily work when you’re fifty. Yeah?
Find a specialist barber and ask them to suggest you something. Get a new style that works for you and looks awesome.
Look After Your Eyes
One of the first places people notice that you’re ageing is your eyes. They are the window to your soul – but also to your real age.
To avoid dark circles and bags around your eyes, try using a hydrating eye cream. Just a dab a day will do you.
This is one of the most important beauty tips for men. Yes, you are what you eat.
From experience with hanging out with guys all my life, I know that your diets are not fantastic. Bacon and sausage sandwiches and six pints of lager, right chaps?
This is all well and fun when you’re in your twenties, but eventually it will all catch up on you. Your diet affects your skin hugely. Junk food and alcohol are responsible for nasty toxins that create blemishes, spots, boils, dry skin, varicose veins, broken capillaries – and so much more.
Once you start eating the right things and drinking lots of water, your skin will start to look as smooth as a baby’s.
Again, this is something else that guys shy away from. Whenever I suggest to my male friends that they get their teeth whitened, they grimace and tell me to “get outta here.”
But I’m serious. Your teeth become stained over the years from alcohol, coffee, smoking, junk food and so on. They don’t stay pretty for ever, and although you might think this isn’t doing you any last damage, it’s not exactly making you a hit with the ladies.
Visit your dentist and see what they suggest. Alternatively, you can use a whitening toothpaste or just avoid certain foods (you can read up on these online).
If you really want your skin to look as beautiful as it did when you were a boy, you’re going to need to exfoliate.
When you exfoliate, you are essentially eliminating dead skin cells from the surface.
And who wouldn’t want to do that?
Look After Your Lips
This is another one of important beauty tips for men. Just like everything else on your body, lips age, too. They’re certainly not exempt from the sands of time wearing them down.
If you’re not convinced, compare your lips now with a picture of yourself from childhood. See the difference?
If you want to slow down your lip’s ageing process, applying a lip balm three times a day.
