10 Tips on how to add some glamour to your everyday outfit
Feeling glamorous can do so much for your mood throughout the day. It’s a great feeling, it boosts your confidence and makes you happier. But how to do it if you don’t have the means and, let’s admit it, the fashion advisers that celebrities always have at their side aren’t fitting everyone’s budget? Here are ten simple tricks to get that feeling with your everyday clothes.
1. A glamorous accessory
Just one little, but valuable, addition to your outfit, like a scarf or a bracelet, or a brooch, can add a delicate hint of glamour. Delicate is usually better, when you go for just one small addition that makes all the difference.
2. Play with colours
If your outfit is in the gray-brown-black parts of the spectre, you can add some glamour to it by choosing a pair of shoes in a bright colour or an equally bright handbag. Or both, why not? A pair of red shoes would do wonders for that old gray suit you think is so boring.
3. Feel attractive
You can feel glamorous even without having to change anything on the surface. Change your underwear, go for some silk lingerie. Granted, you (and your boo) will be the only ones to see it but it doesn’t matter. What matters is the feeling it will create in you.
4. It’s all in the fabric
You may not be able to afford a full wardrobe of expensive clothes but you sure can invest in a couple of high-quality pieces to combine with anything you wear daily. Just one little top can make all the difference, and make you feel different.
5. Rise above the boredom
Take off the flat soles and get on a pair of heels. Sometimes that’s all you need to do to feel more confident, more sparkly and more attractive. If you’re not used to high heels, train for a while at home to minimise the risk of a sprained ankle or worse. Yes, wearing high heels takes some training but it’s worth it!
6. Get yourself a string of pearls
Many believe that pearls are the ultimate glamour accessory. They speak style, coolness and beauty. And they come in so many different designs, just take your pick. Pearls traditionally go with business style outfits or casual elegance but dare to push the boundaries of what’s acceptable. Just don’t wear them with a jumpsuit, all right?
7. Kitsch is also glamorous
If you don’t want to feel delicate and aristocratic just today, go for the kitsch glamour. Jewellery, and lots of it, in bright colours can brighten up your day and your outfit alike. Add a wide belt, put on those supersized goldish hoops and you’re done.
8. Heavy metal’s not dead
A metallic addition to your outfit will give you that cool look without any bright colours, if you don’t like them. You don’t have to, so smile. Metallic is hot right now, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding the skirt or top, or jacket to add to your everyday wardrobe.
Glamour is not just in the eye of the beholder, it’s also in their nose. Wear a fragrance that makes you feel like a star. Sometimes that’s all the glamour you need, especially, if you don’t have the time to plan accessorising in the morning.
10. Be yourself
This is the surest way to look truly great. Follow your own intuition, don’t be afraid to combine clothes and accessories in a way that strays away from what’s fashionable right now. Following fashion blindly doesn’t make you glamorous. In fact it can make you feel ridiculous – it’s just not your thing, so skip it. Dress the way you like not the way a magazine tells you, it’s as simple as that.
