Hilde Palladino is based in Norway, a country which, although it may not exactly be famous for fashion, is one of the world leaders when it comes handbags. Their bags, however, are made in Italy due to cheaper labour.

Judith Lieber is based in Hungary, an eastern european country most famous for goulash. Lieber made its first foray into the world of handbags in 1963 and hasn’t looked back since. Nowadays, famous women from all around the world wear them, while their most valuable ever bag – one that was shaped like a rose and studded with gold and diamond – was christened the most luxurious handbag of 2008.
It also sold for $90,000.
Marc Jacobs is perhaps America’s most famous maker of handbags, thought it was only created in 1997 by a creative director of fashion powerhouse Louis Vuitton.
From its humble beginnings, Marc Jacobs has grown to become known widely as one of the best makers of luxurious handbag’s in the world. The guy behind the brand – Marc Richards himself! – was also recently named as one of the world’s 10 most influential personalities, as well as the most powerful gay man on the plant.
The most famous bag the brand has produced sold for around $50,000.
Like Prada, Fendi is Italian and is also known for its sophisticated and valuable handbags. It’s not quite as old as Prada – Fendi was formed twelve years later in 1925 – but it can certainly rival Prada when it comes to popularity with celebrities and women with money.
Fendi’s handbags tend to be made from vey expensive materials, such as lambskin and crocodile skin. Their most expensive ever bag cost some $28,000, while their Selleria bought was one of the most sought after ever.

Everyone has heard of Chanel, including your XBOX-addicted boyfriend. Based in France, Chanel is one of the oldest handbag makers in the world, with their history going right back to 1909.

Like Chanel, Hermes is based in Paris, but it is arguably not quite as famous as Chanel. Despite this, Hermes is actually older and can trace its history as far back as 1837. The brand makes handbags, shoes and watches among other accessories.
The most expensive bag they have ever sold a crocodile version of their Matte handbag, which fetched a whopping $120,000. The non-crocodile version sold for just $20,000.
We all associate Louis Vuitton with style, luxury, sophistication, class – and wealth. Established way back in 1854 in Paris, it had the honour of being crowned the most valuable handbag brand on the planet for six years on the row.
