10 Tips That Will Help You Always Find Time To Exercise

We know how it is. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to exercise. You know you need to a workout into your daily schedule, but where and how? Beauty and Tips have got you covered with some time management tips and tricks that ensure you never miss a session.

It’s something many of us say a lot: “I just never have the time to do it.”

“It” could mean any number of different things for different people. For you right now, it means exercising.

The good news is that you DO have the time to exercise. That isn’t an issue. There is always time. What you need help with is finding that time amidst your busy daily schedule that involves your kids, your job, cooking, cleaning and your partner.

The first thing you need to do is take a deep breath. Inhale and exhale. It’s very important that you don’t get stressed. Then, take a look at our 10 tips that will help you to always find time to exercise.

Jog To Work

This is a really neat hack that always amazes people when we share it:

“Why didn’t I think of that already?”

If you close enough to work, it’s a great idea to leave your car in the garage and avoid the rush hour traffic by jogging your way to work. In this way, you’re not really losing out on anything except a bit of time. But all you need to do is get up a bit earlier in the morning. Is it worth it? Totally! You could listen to your favourite tunes too, or a podcast.

If you live too far from work and jogging it there would take you a whole week, there is an alternative: You could park your car near to work and jog the rest of the way.

Switch Off

You’ve done a few tasks, and now you’re going to spend about 30 minutes idling around, watching television and surfing the Internet for funny memes.

We all do it. But could you not be using this time to exercise?

Phones, TV’s and laptops are distractions. Turn them off for a while and use the time to work out.

Get Up Earlier

We all love our beds. Isn’t it amazing when we can turn over in our beds and lie in for another thirty minutes? But while those extra minutes seem like manna from heaven at the time, they’re not really offering you any benefits in the long run. You still have to get up eventually, and when you do you might have missed out on vital exercise time.

When you wake up earlier, you have more time to get stuff done – such as exercising.

And if you never feel like exercising when you first wake up, a good way to get you straight in the mood is to prepare the night before. Get some workout music lined-up on your iPod before you go to bed, and go to sleep in your workout clothes.

Take Walks With Friends

Instead of going to the same places and doing the same things with your friends whenever you guys meet up, consider doing something different this time, such as going for a walk or a run.

You can still talk and catch up. But instead of lounging around on the sofa, you’re up and about!

Exercise During Your Lunch Break

For a lot of employees, their lunch break is precious. They get 60 minutes, and they’re going to make sure they get the best out of them.

But are we really getting the best out of our lunch breaks when we just sit around, eat, play on our phones and chat for an hour? Is there more we could be doing?

There is. And if you need to find somewhere to fit exercise into your daily routine, your lunch break could be the perfect place.

Take The Stairs

Ignore the elevator if you have three flights or less to go up (or down) and take the stairs. You’ll lose a bit of time, but you’re getting some exercise in.

Workout With The Kids

If you’ve got kids, it can be extra hard to find the time to exercise. But why not work out with them?

While we’re not suggesting that you encourage your three-year-olds to do squat, you could venture to the park with them before doing your exercises while you all enjoy some time in the sun together.

A lot of the time, finding the time to squeeze exercise into your daily routine means combining tasks. It’s like people who Skype clients frequently. While they’re on a call, they might also do some mild exercise at the same time. Speaking of which …

Exercise While On Skype

We’re not saying that you should do crunches while on the phone. That would be a tad rude to the other person!

“Why do you sound so breathless?”

“Oh .. uh .. just .. uh .. doing some crunches.”


But seriously, more and more people who are short on time realise that they can multitask while on Skype.

Got a call planned that’s going to last at least an hour? There’s no reason why you can’t lift a few dumbbells at the same time or pop on the treadmill. If you a cycling bike at home, pop on that, too.

Quit With The Excuses

Everyone always has an excuse as to why they can’t find the time to exercise. If you’re still trotting out excuses, it’s time to quit them. Otherwise, you really won’t find the time. Believe you can do it and you will.

Make It A Priority

Lastly, the real reason why you can’t find a way of fitting exercise into your daily routine is simply that you haven’t made it a priority.

If we don’t make something a priority, of course it’s going to get put on the back burner – by us and others. Whatever is at the top of your list of priorities won’t be forgotten about, and you’ll do what you can to make it happen.

So while we wouldn’t dream of suggesting that you put exercise before your kids, is there any way you could nudge it up a few places on your list of things to do?
