Marriage advice for women: Are you ready for marriage?
Are you thinking of getting married, but not sure if you are doing it for the right reasons? It’s a common quandary that many people go through and it’s not always just a touch of the nerves that makes people wonder, if they doing the right thing. Marriage is a big decision and a big commitment, so make sure that you are ready to say ‘I do’ and read these ten signs and make sure that the time is right for you to tie the knot:
1. You trust your partner completely
When you agree to marry, you agree to share everything: your life, your time, your dreams, your money and your possessions. You need to be sure that you know your partner, inside out, and that you can trust them implicitly, before you walk down the aisle.
2. You love your partner for who they are
It’s never a good idea to marry, believing that you can change your partner, because you probably can’t. Wedding rings won’t change the person and they won’t change the relationship, so be sure that you are marrying the person and not what you think you can make them become.
3. Your family and friends think that you should
You don’t need to have other people’s approval, but it is well worth listening to their opinions. If you have the support of family and friends, then that’s a good sign, because they know you well and they can take a more objective view of the situation than you can.
4. You are thinking about a marriage, not just a wedding
It’s not just about the dress and the reception, so make sure that the fairy-tale isn’t going to be over the moment you get back from the honeymoon. If it’s the lifelong commitment that you are looking forward to and not just the glamour of the big day, then you are thinking the right way.
5. You can’t picture a life without your partner
What is love? No one can really answer that, but one thing is for sure, if you are contemplating marriage, then that should mean that you are thinking only of living with your partner, for the rest of your life. There should certainly be no wandering eyes and no thoughts of living with another person.
6. You’ve done all you want to, as a single person
Have you achieved all you wanted to, as a single person? Or, are you foregoing some dreams, to be married? This is an important question to ask. You don’t want to be resenting your partner in the future, because marriage stopped you from making your dreams reality.
7. Your heart is saying ‘yes’
You may be nervous and your logical side may be telling you to ask some questions, but if your heart is saying ‘yes’, then you should probably follow it. Logic is a fine thing, but at the end of the day, it is your heart that will make you happy.
8. You would both rather compromise, than win
When you fight to win, then someone has to lose. When you both want to reach a compromise to a dispute, then that is a good sign that you are both ready to make the commitment that a marriage needs to succeed.
9. You are making long term plans together
Have you both agreed on what you want for the future? If you have, then this is a great sign for the future. A marriage is an agreement to do everything together, so if you have any plans, that don’t include your partner, then perhaps you should be thinking again.
10. You truly love each other
Yes, it’s that old fashioned word called love again! A marriage should not be for any one’s personal gain, it should be simply, because you want to be together, for good. If that is the real reason that you want to get married, then there is probably no real reason why you should not.
What are other signs that one is ready to get married?
Stay happy, love and be loved!
