10 Romantic Valentine’s day ideas for couples
It’s nearly Valentine’s Day, so what have you got planned: a last minute card or perhaps its dinner for two, at the same restaurant that you went to last year, and the year before that?
Over commercialized it may be and, yes, it is yet another excuse for Hallmark to sell you yet another greeting card, but it is still the one day in the year that is earmarked for couples just to say ‘I love you’ to one another. So this year, why not break the mould and do something a little different with our 10 fun and romantic Valentine’s day ideas:
1. Take the day off
It’s not as if Valentine’s Day creeps up on you without you realizing; it’s the same day every year! So why don’t you and your partner book the day off work? Make it a really special day in your diary and give both of you the chance to really enjoy it.
2. A romantic lunch together
If you can’t get the whole day off, then, at least, have a romantic lunch together. Picnic in the park or lunch for two in a restaurant, it’ll break up the day and make it a bit extra special.
3. Decorate your house
Give your man a surprise when he gets home and dress your house, as well as yourself. Flowers, balloons, bunting…really, go to town and show him how much you care.
4. Bring the movies home
One of the simplest, coziest and, of course, romantic Valentine’s day ideas is to bring the movies home. Queuing in line in the pouring rain can rather take the edge of a romantic Valentines date at the movies, so bring the movies home instead. Rent some romantic DVD’s and get in the popcorn and soda (I mean, make your own soda: mix sparkling water, lemon and honey; yes, we love healthy eating here ;)). Turn the lights down low, snuggle up together and just enjoy the romantic movie under warm and cosy blanket. It’s much more comfortable, than the back row of the movies as well.
5. Spoil your partner
You don’t need to spend a fortune to show that you love him. If he has to work that day then have a drink ready for him when he gets home and make him feel really wanted and welcomed. Run him a bath, cook his favorite meal, give him a massage, it’s all the little things that you can do that really let him know that you love him.
6. Be kids again
If you are looking for fun and romantic Valentine’s day ideas, let your hair down for the day and visit a theme park or amusement park together. Spend the day holding on tight to each other, as you ride the scariest rides that you can find and enjoy an ice-cream together, just like you used to do.
7. Go see your favorite band
Google your favorite band today; they might be a little on the geriatric side now, but, the chances are that they’re still touring! Relive your dating years and be a rock chick again for a night.
8. Take a class
Remember that scene in Ghost with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and a potter’s wheel? Try your hand at art and sign up together for a sculpting, painting, dancing or pottery class. Great fun to learn and you can make each other a Valentines gift while you’re there.
9. Together in a fancy hotel
Spice up your relationship by booking the night in a fancy hotel. Remember Richard Gere and his pretty woman?…Take a bath together with champagne and strawberries, then dress up and meet in the bar for a cocktail before having a romantic dinner together. Wouldn’t it be a romantic Valentine’s day?!
10. Remember your first date?
One of the cutest romantic Valentine’s day ideas would be to recreate your first date. If you can, try and find exactly the same clothes you wore on your first date with your partner, eat the same meal, re-watch that movie again and re-share your first kiss. It will be very fun and romantic…All the sweet memories will come alive…
Romantic Valentine’s day ideas are countless, just be creative and make that day really special.
