10 Natural skin tightening tips and home remedies

As people age, the elasticity of the skin begins to reduce and that causes the skin to become looser and sag. Sagging skin can also be caused by over exposure to the sun, poor diet, smoking, and as a result of rapid weight loss. It can be particularly noticeable around the neck, the eyes, the mouth and cheeks, and it cannot be fully reversed unless you opt for cosmetic surgery. You can, however, take steps to slow the process and to reduce the appearance of the sagging by using natural means to tighten the skin. Here are ten tips on how to reduce the appearance of loose skin, naturally.

1. Facial exercises

You can reduce the appearance of loose skin by firming the facial muscles that lie underneath the skin. The muscles of your face are just like any other muscles in your body, and they can be toned by exercises. There are different types of exercises for each area of your face and they basically invoice pulling exaggerated facial expressions.

2. Drink plenty of water

If you do have slightly loose facial skin, when you become dehydrated, it will become even more noticeable. Skin is naturally more plump and firm when it is fully hydrated, so make sure you are drinking eight to ten glasses of water every day and that will minimise the appearance of sagging skin.

3. Egg whites

Another one of great  skin tightening tips is to use egg whites. Apply an egg white mask to your face, three times a month, and that will tighten up the skin and provide it with nourishment. To make the mask, mix one egg white with a tablespoon of honey. Apply it to your face and leave it on for about fifteen minutes, before washing off with warm water. Egg whites are rich in protein, which will nourish the skin and bring back some of its elasticity.

4. Avoid making it any worse

Protecting your skin from a young age is the best way to avoid sagging skin, but whatever your age, you should still take precautions to stop skin aging any further. It contains Vitamin C and enzymes, such as papain, which are known to help tighten up the skin. To make a homemade papaya face mask, blend together a tablespoon of ripe papaya pulp with a half a tablespoon of rice flour and add one tablespoon of argan oil. Massage the mixture gently into your skin, leave it on for fifteen minutes, and then wash off with lukewarm water.

8. Cucumber

Cucumber is also known to be one of the greatest skin tightening home remedies. Take a couple of cucumber slices (or a cucumber paste) and rub them over your skin in a gentle circular motion; and the cucumber juice will hydrate your skin, close up the pores and firm the skin. Cucumber also tones the skin, so it will leave you with a fresher looking complexion too.

9. Drink green tea

Green tea is brimming with antioxidants that will fight free radicals and help stop any further damage to your skin. Drinking green teas will also help to promote the production of new collagen in your skin, which will replace the collagen that you have lost, and bring back some of the elasticity to your skin.

10. Baking soda

Another one of fabulous skin tightening home remedies is a baking soda mask. Massage a paste of baking soda and sweet almond oil (or water) into your akin and it will remove dead skin cells, which will soften your skin and allow new skin cells to grow. Baking soda also closes up the pores of the skin and tightens the skin too. If you use baking soda on your skin regularly, it will improve your complexion and firm up your skin, while sweet almond oil will nourish and soften it.

    Just turned 32 and starting to see a few lines coming through (mostly in my forehead) and would like to start to use an anti wrinkle cream. I guess all my early years of sun worshipping and not moisturizing is coming to smack me in the ass 🙁
    I have a fair complexion with plenty of freckles.
    Any advice at all would be great as there is so much out there not sure which way to go
