10 Small habits you can incorporate into your life to make it happier, healthier and wealthier
Though the individual importance that each of us places on health, wealth and happiness may be different; all of these things probably do feature in what everyone is looking for in life, to one degree or another. People who do finally achieve the balance of these three things that they are looking for, are those people who have developed the habits that have helped them get there. It’s the things that we do daily that help us to achieve our dreams, more than the one-off successes, so read these ten small habits that you can incorporate into your life that will help make you happier, healthier, and wealthier too.
1. Set your targets and monitor your progress
You need to have goals and you need to have plans. Then, you can track your progress and make the adjustments that you need to make along the way. Health, wealth and happiness, don’t come along all by themselves, you need to get into the habit of asking yourself, what I have done today to achieve my goals and what will I do tomorrow.
2. Get more exercise
It’s quite amazing how all of these three things work together and your fitness levels will have an impact on your ability to achieve all of them. Just ten minutes of exercise a day will help to prevent disease, improve your mood and make you more alert at work. Get into a daily routine that includes exercise and it will help you achieve all your goals.
3. Eat a healthy diet
If you live off fast food, then you will spend more money than you need to and a bad diet will affect your health and your happiness too. Get into the habit of choosing fresh, healthy options, both when you eat at home, and when you eat out. A healthy diet will give you the energy you need to go places you have never been before, and it will help you live a more active and long life too.
4. Stop people pleasing
A habit that you need to try and get out of is trying to please other people all the time. If you spend all your time trying to please other people, you won’t have enough time left to spend on yourself. You have to be determined to succeed and put yourself first sometimes, because your happiness is just as important as everyone else’s.
5. View challenges as opportunities
Whatever your goals are in life, you will come across obstacles that get in your way. If you want to succeed, you will need to meet these challenges and adapt your plans to overcome them. Look upon challenges as opportunities to excel, never as an excuse to give up.
6. Make a point to learn something new every day
Even the richest and most successful people don’t assume that they know everything. The more you learn, the more you have at your disposal to help you to achieve your goals. You can improve your chances of promotion at work by learning more about your job, you could improve your health by learning more about nutrition, and you could improve your motivation by reading more books.
7. Be prepared to go outside your comfort zone
Another habit that happy and successful people have is that they are never afraid to take risks and to try new things. Don’t simply turn away from something that you are unfamiliar with, think it through, weigh up the pros and cons; and only then can you decide whether or not it is right for you. Even if you fail, at least you will have tried, and will have no doubt learned something from the experience too.
8. Surround yourself with positive people
The company that you keep will affect the way that you think, so spend time with other happy and successful people and they will inspire and encourage you to be the same. A positive outlook will help you in all aspects of your life and it will definitely make you a happier person.
9. Be kind to other people
Another common trait of happy, wealthy, and healthy people, is that they show kindness to other people and they give them their support and encouragement. The richest people in the world know that they couldn’t have got there all by themselves and, if you help other people, you will receive help in return. It’s also a well-known fact that showing kindness to other people has an immensely positive effect on your own mental well-being.
10. Believe in yourself
Wake up every morning and remind yourself that you can do it. You can run that extra mile, you can get that new job, or you can pass that exam. Whatever it is that you are striving for, if you believe that you can do it then you probably will do it. Health, wealth and happiness are things that anyone can achieve, but you have to put in the effort to make it happen.
