DON’T LET THESE 10 THINGS AFFECT YOUR HAPPINESS

Don’t let these 10 things affect your happiness

The only person that can make you unhappy is you, because you are the one who decides what you will allow to get you down. Many of us are guilty of letting small things upset us and that can make the really big things even more unbearable. There are some things, though, that you really shouldn’t let affect you at all, so read these 10 things, that no one should be letting make them unhappy.

1. What other people think

The first step on the path to happiness is to stop taking to heart what other people say about you. You should wear the clothes that you like, enjoy the music that you think is great and wear your hair how you like it. If other people don’t like who you are, then that is their problem and not yours.

2. Your body

You are what you are, so be proud of it! You should never let your appearance be a thing that gets you down, because there is no perfect shape or size. Each and every one of us is unique, so don’t obsess over how you look, because everyone has different ideas about what makes a beautiful person.

3. How successful you think other people are

There will always be someone, somewhere, who is or appears to be better off than you, so don’t waste your time worrying about how well other people appear to be doing. What really counts is that what you are doing is making you happy and you don’t need to prove yourself to anyone else or judge yourself against others.

4. Small setbacks

Don’t let failure make you unhappy either. If you fail your driving test this time, you will probably pass it the next time. The most important thing about failure is that you learn from it and you don’t let it get you down. Be brave and get back on the horse, as they say, because everyone has some setbacks in their lives.

5. Bitterness

Harbouring hatred and bitterness will only make you unhappy. If someone has hurt you or done you wrong, then forget it and move on as fast as you can. You will be far happier if you concentrate on the good things in your life, rather than expending all that energy on hatred.

6. The small stuff

Don’t sweat the small stuff because that is sure to get you down. If you someone jumps in front of you in a store, or you and a friend have a fight over nothing at all, then let it go. Life is too short to be getting upset over such silly, inconsequential things.

7. Facebook

Don’t spend too much time on Facebook worrying about how well your friends are doing. Facebook is supposed to be for fun, but if you spend too long on it, it can start to make you feel jealous of what other people are doing. Give Facebook a break, get out and enjoy yourself instead.

8. Blowing things out of all proportion

Stop making mountains out of molehills and get things back into perspective. Life is constantly testing us, so accept that there will be things that annoy you, but don’t make a drama out of everything. More often than not, things are never as bad as they first look and happiness is achieved by accepting the rough with smooth with equal determination to succeed.

9. The images you see in the media

The media are filled with glossy images of celebrities all looking perfect, but don’t compare you to them. The lives and the looks of celebs, as portrayed in the media, is what they want you to see and it is often false anyway. Anyone can look great with a team of makeup artists and someone to digitally touch up the photos!

10. Other people’s bad days

Some people are born pessimists and they love nothing more than to tell you how bad things are. Steer clear of these negative people and don’t let their pessimism rub off on you. Your own mood can be easily affected by the people that you choose to spend time with, so surround yourself with positive, happy people and don’t let the others grind you down.
