8 Things that will happen when you start following your dreams

Some dreams are purely whimsical and some are a little more realistic. We all have dreams and goals, but we don’t all pursue them; and it’s when you do start to actually chase after your dreams that things really start to happen. That’s when things get exciting, scary and great fun, all at the same time, and, even, if you don’t ultimately achieve your dream, at least, you will have tried. So get your goals and dreams out of the back of the cupboard, dust them down, and give it a go and here are eight things that you can expect to happen, when you do pursue your dreams:

1. When you start following your dreams, you are going to annoy some people

Don’t be put off by other people, because some people are not going to be happy that you are following your dreams. For one thing, some people are just going to be jealous that you have the bottle to give it a go and they don’t, and others close to you might be scared by the thought of the changes that might occur as a result of you chasing your dreams, so be aware of it.

2. Following your dreams might be scary

Depending on what your dream is, things might get scary. You might fear failure or you might have to make some drastic changes in your life, but if your dream is important to you, then stick to your guns, as long as you are not trampling over others to get there, because that’s never worth it.

3. When you start to chase your dreams, you will learn how to ask for help

You will probably need help, somewhere along the way, so you will need to learn how to ask for it. This will have more benefits, than you expect from it, as not only will you learn and get the help that you need, but you will also open up a whole new circle of friends and acquaintances.

4. You are going to test yourself

If it’s a dream that you are pursuing, then it’s not going to be easy. You are going to test yourself to the limits and beyond, and you will probably find strengths in yourself that you never knew you had.

5. Following your dreams will make you go outside your comfort zone

It’s a dream, so you are going places you have never been before, but that’s half the fun of trying. If you had done it all before, then what would be the point of trying. Pursuing a dream really is as much about the journey, as it is the destination, so make sure that you make the most of it as you go along your way.

6. There will be days when you’ll want to throw in the towel

It’s going to be tough, you knew that when you started, and there will be days when that dream seems so far off that you will want to give up. Remember though that no one achieves their dreams without setbacks and second thoughts. The only difference between winners and losers is that the winners don’t ever give up.

7. When you start to follow your dreams, you will begin to feel a huge sense of achievement

Let’s not be negative about this, yes it will be hard and yes, you must expect some setbacks, but even taking just the first few steps towards your dream is going to feel great. Celebrate every accomplishment along the way and treat every milestone reached as an achievement in its own right, it will give you the incentive and the hope to keep going.

8. You will find that following your dreams is worth it

It really is a wonderful feeling to pursue your dreams and, even if you don’t reach your final goal, at least, you will have tried and you will gain so much confidence, knowledge and inner strength from the whole experience. Remember, life is for living and you only get one shot at it, so don’t be one of those people who will forever be asking themselves ‘what if?’

You will eventually achieve it if you don’t give up.
