Being happy is one of the most legitimate and vital desires that any human being can have, but sometime we (ourselves) create obstacles for our happiness. Let’s talk about habits we must quit in order to be happy (this is “part 2” of the “happiness series”. You can read part one by clicking here):

1) Avoid ignorance (or never stop learning new things).
Our brain is similar to a muscle, so it’s quite necessary to train it to maintain it’s efficiency. Not only learning new things will help you grow mentally, but also it will make your life richer and happier. So, try to learn something new every day (or, at least, every week) – take dancing lessons, learn a new word in foreign language, cook a new dish that you never tried before or read some new books. Do anything that is new for you, like this you will grow.

2) Stop being afraid to say “no”.
I, personally, don’t like to offend people, so I often had difficulties to say “no”. Have you ever had this kind of situation where you went against yourself and felt resentful afterwards? These kind of situations are never beneficial for either you or the person you are trying to please against your inner agreement. With the time, I learned that it’s actually possible to say “no” in a very “nice” manner, without being mean. You only can feel happy when you follow your heart and when you do what you want to do. So, from now on, never be afraid to say “no” when you want to say it and you will feel more free and happy!

3) Quit the fear of starting over.
It doesn’t really matter how many times you failed in the past. The good news is that you can always start over, you can turn the page of your life and start “telling a new story”. Some people think that it’s too late, they are too old, or they lack certain skills, but the truth is – it’s never too late to start moving toward your dream, all these hindrances on your way are simple illusions! It’s never too late! People get married at 75 and live happily ever after. Some find their true calling in life at 90 and, finally, start to enjoy what they are doing. Others create many businesses, all of them fail, but one day they have a break through! If you are persistent enough – sooner or later you will succeed! So, quit negative thoughts and fears, and be sure that it’s never too late to start all over again!

4) Avoid oversleeping (…and overeating)…
Sleep is a vital and one of the most important things for the wellbeing and health of your body, but too much of it can make you feel tired, have lack of energy and even can make you “lazy”. It’s recommended to sleep about 7 or 8 hours a day, some people sleep only 6 hours and feel great. Try to listen to the needs of your body and discipline yourself to go to sleep and wake up at the same “regular” time. Overeating is also something to avoid by all means. Happy body – happy spirit!

5) Throw away wrong self-image. (Replace it by great and positive image of yourself).
What is your inner image of yourself? How do you see yourself?
If you have bad self image, you don’t like yourself, you constantly criticise and blame yourself…all this can’t lead you to a happy life. Other people can also feel the kind of energy you are “vibrating” and treat you accordingly. If you really desire to be happy and to lead great and accomplished life – create great and positive image of yourself. Positive affirmations can help you to do so, here are some of good ones:

I am the vibrant being of love and light.
I vibrate positive energy and happiness.
The more grateful I am – the more reasons I find to be grateful.
I love and accept myself completely.
I love and respect all people.

You can create your own affirmations that fit your concerns and read them every morning or every evening, to make them enter into your subconscious and then, after sometime, your attitude and feelings will change for better and your self image will improve.
