How to have a healthy lifestyle no matter how hectic your life is?

If you are thinking, I don’t have the time to balance my life, then that is why it’s time for you to start thinking labour balancing your life! 1. Learn how to say no

Don’t be afraid to say no when you are asked to take on more work, whether that’s for additional responsibilities or work or just running errands for friends and family. Telling people that you simply don’t have the time will make you look much better than saying, yes, and then failing to deliver.

2. De-clutter your life

How much time do you waste looking for things like the important piece of paper that has become buried under the pile of all the other important pieces of paper, for example? Put aside some time to have a good clear out and you will make your life a lot easier and far more manageable.

3. Work out what is really important to you

For some people, work really is their number one priority and that’s what makes them happy. But, for many people, when they sit down and think about it, it’s not really the most important thing to them. Take stock of where you spend your time now and then make a plan to rectify the balance if it’s not right for you now.

4. Don’t ignore friends and family

Friends and family are important to most people, so don’t neglect them. Make the time spend with them and work on your relationships with other people. It will pay dividends in the long run.

5. Work smart

Multitasking doesn’t work! If you are not concentrating on a task, then it will take longer to complete, so focus on one task at a time and overall, you will get far more down.

6. Not everything has to be done now

Prioritise your work and schedule it over a sensible period of time. Don’t get into the habit of thinking that everything has to be done today or you will panic and become less efficient. This is not procrastinating, it is making plans, and if you have a plan, then you can build some free time into that schedule too.

7. Switch off the electronics occasionally

No one will really mind if you don’t answer and email immediately, they probably won’t even notice! Mobile telephones, emails and texts have given us 24 x 7 working days, but only if you leave your devices switched on!

8. Take breaks and rest

It’s been proven in many different studies that taking breaks does improve efficiency. If you try and work, straight through a day, you will gradually become less and less productive. Make sure that take regular breaks and just switch off for a while, then work won’t seem such a burden and you’ll get some free time too.

9. Set boundaries and stick to them

To help make sure that your work life doesn’t blur into your home life, set yourself definite time boundaries. You are allowed ‘off duty’ times, just like anyone else, so set those boundaries and stick to them. You can also set boundaries in your home life. For example, getting the kids to bed at a set time and making sure you get some quality time with your partner.

10. Don’t be afraid to ask for help

And, remember; there is no shame in asking for help when you need it. If you can’t complete a task, be it for work or a personal chore. If you don’t ask for help, no one will ever know you needed it.
