10 Creative Ways To Make Your Life More Exciting And Fun
Have you ever looked at someone else’s life and thought about how much fun they’re having and how much fun you’re not having?
Sometimes, life feels duller than it should. Somewhere along the line, we fell into the numbing routine of getting up for work, going to work, working, arriving home from work, dying, before rinsing and repeating.
And when weekend comes around, we just throw on our slacks and laze around.
Meanwhile, whilst in our slacks, we read on Facebook about how our friends are out skiing, partying and taking big risks with their lives. They’re doing stuff, they’re having fun.
And all we wanna do is nap. Rock on!!
The good news is that this can be changed. If you want a more exciting and fun life, it can happen. If you want some thrills, spills and extraordinary things to happen to you, you can have it all.
How? Well, let’s take a look at 10 creative ways to make life more exciting and fun!
Ask Yourself What Fun Means To You
Fun means something different to us all, and my idea of fun might not be the same as your idea of fun.
So before you do anything, spend a few moments with a pen and paper and jot down all the things you loved to do when you were younger but no longer do.
Then highlight which ones you’d love to do again and mark out any which you’re not interested in anymore.
Then, think about any new ones you can add.
Stop Worrying What Other People Will Think
One of the things that stops us from having fun is that we’ve grown into an adult who has become predictable to others. People have a solid impression of who we are, and we don’t want to mess that up by doing something out of character, such as just letting go and having a ball.
But who cares if people have preconceived notions about you? Surprise them by doing something different! Be unpredictable.
And, honestly, they won’t care. And if they do care and judge – to heck with them and their stuffy lives!
Get Up And About Early
People who live exciting lives tend to enthuse about life. And when you enthuse about life, you usually want to get up early and make the most of every moment.
You know what is an incredible site? The sun rising. You don’t have to get up every morning and perch yourself on a hill to watch it emerge from behind the horizon, but ushering in a new day is a beautiful thing to do that sets the tone for what will follow.
Maybe you could go for an early morning jog or bike ride. Get up, and get out for some early adventures.
Are you one of those people who always says “But I have no time at all!” when someone suggests you do such and such a thing?
If you really want to do something enough, you will make time. And if you want to make your life more interesting, you’re going to need to free up some time.
This might mean creating a to-do list and eliminating a few tasks, or it might simply be a case of motivating yourself to get up earlier or spend less time lazing around.
Or it might even be a case of cutting out bad habits, such as alcohol, which can take up a lot of time.
If you have a tendency to take things a bit too seriously, now is the time to loosen up and realise that life is both a comedy and a tragedy. Focus on the comedy aspect and allow yourself to laugh at stuff you would normally put your serious face on for.
Take A Different Route
If you have the type of job which you have to travel to each day, you might be fed up of the familiar journey. It’s always the same streets, the same traffic jams, the same people, the same bad corners. It’s enough to make you hate your life, and it can really sour your mood before you’ve even arrived at work.
So why not figure out an alternative route? I’m sure there is one, and taking an alternative route can really lift your spirits in the morning. You get to see new things and create new associations. You might even discover a charming coffee shop you’d never seen before!
Get Some New Clothes
Clothes really do make the woman. If your wardrobe is a bit plain Jane at the moment, it’s going to effect how much fun you have.
Indulge in a bit of retail therapy. Buy some new clothes that scream fun. Add some colour to your wardrobe, before heading out in your new outfits.
Go On A Road Trip
Road trips are exciting, and while they’re even more exciting if you don’t plan ahead, they can be just as fun if you do make a few plans.
If going on a road trip is something you’ve thought about before, but have always put off, now is your chance to get out on the open road and let your hair down.
Road trips give you a chance to explore new places. It also serves as a mini vacation, and is every bit as fun as it looks in the movies!
And it’s even better when you take a friend along for the ride.
So go on. Fill your car up. Pack a light bag. Book an AirBnB – and just go.
Say Yes More
If you’ve ever seen the movie Yes Man starring Jim Carey, you’ll know all about the power of saying Yes more often.
Basically, it guarantees more fun.
How many times have you turned someone down because you was wearing your sensible cap at the time and decided that it was just a lot easier to stay in?
To make your life a bit more interesting, it’s time to start saying Yes to those things you’d ordinarily say No to. It’ll take you out of your comfort zone (which is not as scary as you might think).
If you’re anything like me (and most people), the thing you enjoyed the most at school when you were a kid were sports.
Okay, so sports aren’t for everyone. But if you remember panting with giddiness after scoring points on the netball court or grinning like a Cheshire Cat after your team won at volleyball, you’ll know that sports can be the most fun anyone could ever have.
Take a friend to the local sports centre with you and play some badminton, squash, or anything you guys like.
