10 Useful tips on how to apply wedding makeup
It’s your big day! Probably the biggest day in your life, so you want it to go just right and that applies to your makeup, as well as everything else. Your family, his family and all your friends are going to be there watching you, and so will all those cameras, so make sure that your makeup doesn’t let you down by checking out our top ten tips on how to apply wedding makeup:
Our first tip on how to apply wedding makeup is – practice! You know the big day is coming, so you have plenty of time to practice your makeup beforehand. You are probably going to be nervous enough on the day, so experiment now, get friends to do pictures and that way, you can be sure that you are happy with the look.
Before you apply any makeup, cleanse and moisturize your skin. Take care with the moisturizer not to make your skin greasy, or your makeup will not sit properly, nor will it last as long.
The flash of the cameras will highlight any slight imperfections in your skin, if you use a primer, not only will it make a base for the rest of your makeup, it will also help to cover wide pores and any fine lines.
4. Apply long wearing foundation and concealer
Use a concealer to hide any flaws or slight imperfections in your skin and then, apply foundation to give an overall smooth and flawless look to your skin; and chose long wearing formula products to make sure that it lasts the entire day. On your wedding day you might get emotional and blush a lot, so the best color base to use for a concealer is yellow, as this is better to hide any redness.
Whether you apply your eye makeup before or after foundation is often debated. Some people say that it is best before, so if there is any fallout from your eye makeup, it will be easier to clear up, before applying the foundation. When it comes to your eyebrows, remember to do any shaping and plucking a couple of days before your wedding, to give time for any redness to go down, and just shape and define with an eyebrow pencil or a water-resistant eyebrow gel on the big day.
6. Eye Lashes
Open up your eyes and frame that gleaming look of happiness with an application of mascara, but remember to use a waterproof one, as even the hardest of us sheds at least one tear in the course of a wedding. Some girls do eyelashes extensions or use false eyelashes on their wedding day, so try, experiment and see what suits you best…
Give your face a rosy glow by applying a little blusher to the apples of your cheeks. Apply it gently with your fingers first and then blend in with a makeup brush. Do this gradually though, to avoid putting on too much or you’ll look like one of those dolls with the bright red cheeks…
To set your makeup, use a light dusting of translucent powder, especially on your T-zone, which might be prone to becoming oily.
Apply a small amount of foundation to your lips first, and then apply your choice of lipstick and be sure to remember to take your lipstick with you for later touch ups. You can get long lasting lipstick, but beware that they can dry your lips out fairly quickly.
10. To finish
Finish off with a light spray of finishing mist. These finishing products contain a special polymer, which will help your makeup stay in place for longer.
