How to get rid of double chin? 10 Simple diet and exercise tips

When I was younger, my sister and I used to make fun of my dad’s double chin. We’d say that it was actually more like a triple chin. Or maybe he had an infinite amount of chins! He was a good sport, though, and played along. He knew he had a double chin and reasoned there was nothing he could do about it. “It’s just a fact of ageing.”

The thing is, though, that there are plenty of things you can do to lose your double chin. You could do what my dad did and hide it with a scarf (he even wore a scarf in the middle of summer), or you could opt for an expensive and rather invasive surgical procedure.

Personally, I don’t recommend either of these two options because there are 10 simple diet and exercise tips on how to get rid of double chin in just a few weeks. So put your scarf away, cancel that hospital appointment – and read on!

Chew Sugar Free Gum

According to studies, fidgeting is a great way to burn calories. If you tap your feet all day long, you can burn something like 350 calories.

But tapping your feet isn’t going to make your double chin go away. However, chewing gum can do just that!

If you’re serious about getting rid of your double cleft, you need to keep your facial muscles toned. This means giving your jaw line a good workout. The best way to do this is chewing on sugar free gum all day long.

Cocoa Butter

Another goos tip on how to get rid of double chin is to use cocoa butter.

My friend started covering herself with cocoa butter a few years ago. I thought she was crazy. Then she told me that it was to improve the elasticity of her skin.

A quick bit of research revealed that cocoa butter does indeed improve the elasticity of your skin. This, of course, has many benefits: It slows down the ageing process, gives your back your healthy-looking, glowing skin – and it also eliminates that pesky double chin that has been the bane of your life ever since it decided to double down on you.

All you need to do is warm 2-3 tablespoons of cocoa butter before gently massaging the oil onto your double chin for just a few minutes each day.

Do Some Chin Exercises

This is one of the most effective tips on how to get rid of double chin.

As soon as I started getting into fitness and nutrition, I took my new knowledge to my dad and told him how a few simple chin exercises could help him lose his double chin in just a few weeks.

He took his scarf off and gave me his full concentration. I told him that chin exercise stretch your face, neck and jaw muscles, and they also tone them too. This is crucial for getting rid of a double chin.

A simple chin exercise is thus:

Keep your spine erect before ever so slowly tilting back your head until you can see the ceiling. Then, pout your lips and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat around 10 times and do this daily for a few weeks or until you see results.

Drink Green Tea

One of great tips on how to get rid of double chin is to drink green tea; it is recommended by so many dieticians and nutritionists because of its marvellous health benefits. Green tea can make you smarter, improve physical performance, reduce your risk of cancer, and lower your risk of infection.

It can also help you lose your two chins. This is because green tea is rich in antioxidants that accelerate your metabolism, ensuring that you burn more calories and subsequently lose more weight.

Lots of people don’t drink green tea because they don’t like the taste. The good news is that you can now buy flavoured tea that comes with all the same benefits.

Tongue Press

The tongue press exercise is one of the best exercises on how to get rid of double chin, it is really easy and really effective. All you need to do is sit back straight and put your shoulders down while tilting your head so that you can see the ceiling.

Then, press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. While your tongue is in this position, you need to lower your chin towards your chest as much as you can. As soon as you can feel your double chin make contact with your neck you can relax your tongue and return to the starting position.

Eat More Vitamin E

If you don’t fancy smearing yourself in cocoa butter because it sounds a bit ‘eew’, you can boost your skin’s elasticity by eating more vitamin E. This vitamin is crucial to better skin, and when you eat more of it, you get a smoother, flatter chin. You basically get just the one chin you’ve always wanted.

Vitamin E is found in numerous health food sources such as soybeans, legumes, liver, brown rice, nuts and seeds, barley, and leafy green vegetables.

Do The O

Okay so doing the O is not as much fun as doing the hustle, but it’s really effective if you want to lose your double chin time for your friends’ next group selfie.

To begin, you need to sit back straight and put your shoulders down. Then, tilt back your head and look at the ceiling before closing your lips. Slowly open your mouth and form an “O” shape. Hold for 15 seconds. You will feel a contraction at this point. Now, relax your mouth and return to where you started.

One of the easiest tips on how to get rid of double chin is to laugh more often. Laughter is essentially a free facial exercise that you can do at any time of the day. All you need to do is stick a comedy on and laugh your double chin away.

Melons are made up of 95% water, and water is fantastic for hydrating and soothing your skin. It is rich in all kinds of beneficial vitamins and proteins, and combats the pesky free radicals that are blighting your skin and causing double chins.

But we’re not suggesting that you eat melon (though that’s cool, too); rather, we’re suggesting that you blend a melon before applying to a cotton ball that you apply to your double chin. Leave for up to 15 minutes for effective results. Do this 2-3 times a day.

Milk is another fantastic source of all kinds of beneficial vitamins and proteins that are great for your skin. It cleans your biggest organ and promotes elasticity, too.
