2. Combats depression

Ylang ylang essential oil is used widely in aromatherapy for its calming effect on the mind and it can be used to treat depression. Although it should never be used as a replacement for prescribed medication, used in a diffuser, it is said that the oil can ease both anxiety and depression.

3. Lowers blood pressure

A number of essential oils, including ylang ylang oil, have been proven to have the ability to lower the blood pressure of people who suffer from hypertension. 4. Reduces stress

The relaxing qualities of ylang ylang essential oil can also be used to reduce stress levels. According to a study published in Phytotherapy Research in 2006, in tests involving 40 participants, the oil was found to greatly relax those who were feeling the symptoms of stress.

5. Use it as a treatment for acne

The antibacterial properties of ylang ylang essential oil mean that it can be used to treat acne very effectively. This is particularly good news for acne suffers with dry skin, because mixed with a scent free moisturiser it will fight the bacteria that cause acne, without drying out the skin.

6. It’s an aphrodisiac

People in South East Asia have long believed that ylang ylang essential is an aphrodisiac. It is even said the aphrodisiac properties of the oil are so powerful that it can reawaken passion and desire in people that have lost their libido because of stress or illness.

It will clean the boil and reduce the inflammation.

10. It has anti-fungal properties
