10 Tips On How To Pamper Yourself If You Don’t Have Time
We’ve all had those stressful days at the office where all we want to do when we get home is be pampered. If possible, we’d love to be able to get away to a day spa for the weekend.
But life often gets in the way, and such pampering is impossible for many of us. We lack the time, and sometimes even the money.
So what do we do?
Too many women find it hard to relax. So caught up in the stresses and strains of their careers, they work through the night and into the weekend, checking their phones every few minutes and sending off midnight emails to clients.
Switching off is important. If you’re short on time but know that you need a break, pampering yourself is an easy way to look after your mind and body so that a healthy synergy is promoted.
Taking care of yourself is fundamental, and finding the time each week for some pampering is easier than you think. Here are our 10 top tips on how to pamper yourself if you don’t have the time.
Take Cat Naps
I used to be one of those women who said that cat naps were for the weak.
“I’ll sleep when I’m dead!” I would say.
Eventually, my productivity started to slow, I gradually lost motivation for my work – and I burned out.
I now look after my mind and body by taking regular cat naps. Just 20 minutes each day is enough to recharge my batteries, and it enhances my productivity.
You simply can’t complete a project to the best of your potential if you’re drowsy. Look after yourself by listening to your body and taking a nap when it desperately needs it.
Meet Up With An Old Friend
If you’ve been so busy with work lately, you probably haven’t had the time to catch up with your closest friends, let alone an old friend.
Why not give yourself a break, and put a day aside to have a right good catch-up with someone you haven’t seen for a while? This could work wonders for your mental state, and it will remind you how powerful friendships are.
Every girl deserves a day of shopping now and then. Ask a friend to join you and dig out some great bargains in your city.
Actually Enjoy Your Cup Of Coffee
Sure, very few of us can function without our morning cup of coffee. But most of us gulp it down before quickly heading outdoors.
Sometimes, we even gulp it down in the car on the way to work.
We’re not enjoying it – we’re just getting some fuel.
Why not put aside 20 minutes each day to actually enjoy your drink? Maybe combine it with a magazine or a good book.
Have A Good Soak
You’ve no doubt seen characters on television having a good, soothing soak in a bubble bath. I can recall scenes from U.S. sitcoms Friends and Frasier. Unfortunately in comedies, a moment of bubble bliss is often disrupted by a calamitous event, but each time I watch someone in a bubble bath, I actually feel instantly relaxed.
Nothing relieves stress quite like a good soak. If you’ve had a long day, you can either pig out in front of the TV and keep your phone close at hand so that your emails are never far away – or you could be compassionate to yourself by leaving your phone downstairs while you take a relaxing bath.
Go Out For A Meal
A few years ago, I used to be really hard on myself. I went through a period where I was forcing myself to cook my own meals each night because it was healthier.
But although my diet was healthy, the fact that I was cooking my meals at 9PM after another earth-shatteringly stressful day at work totally offset any benefits I was deriving from the food. I was frustrated, and eventually I had a meltdown. I literally couldn’t face cooking and washing up anymore.
If you ever get like this, take some time off from the kitchen and take yourself out for a meal instead. You deserve it.
Check Into A Hotel For The Night
Fed up of returning home to clutter? Spend a night in a hotel in your city, and enjoy the cleanliness, the room service – and the wine.
Wear Something Nice
Maybe you haven’t worn anything nice for months because you haven’t got round to washing your nice clothes. Maybe you’ve spent the last few weeks wearing your slacks and old sweaters because you’ve been in too much of a rush to get dolled up.
Every now and then, put some time aside to paint your face and wear your best dress. You’ll feel amazing.
Watch Your Favourite Movies
You’re home from work but your bosses has given you some “homework” to do. He’d love it if you could research some figures for him and report back tomorrow.
Stressed and disheartened, you really don’t feel like doing it.
So why not pamper yourself a little by allowing yourself to watch your favourite movie first? Watching a fav movie is a great way to loosen up and get away from it all for a while. Movies are pure escapism, and they’re the perfect treat after a long day at work.
Spend Some Time In Nature
The hustle and bustle of the city can make you stressed. Combine it with all the pollution, the noise and the shoppers who barge you out of the way, and it can be easy to see why city women are more stressed than country bumpkins.
Spending some quality time with nature is important for your mental health. If you’ve not seen a green leaf or smelled a flower for months, it’s time for you to leave the dimly lit room of your office and time to head out into the glorious outdoors.
You’ll soak up more sunshine, too, which will also have a positive effect on your wellbeing. Getting out and about in the country is such a fun and easy way to pamper yourself.
