Beauty secrets of Cleopatra

Beauty of Queen Cleopatra intrigued many men and women for centuries. She is one of the most famous figures of antique times and her fame stays alive up until now. What was her secret? How she could turn so many heads of men? Why her personality is surrounded by legends? What are the beauty secrets of Cleopatra?
Well, some say that she was acquainted with subtile skills of seduction, was very intelligent, could play instruments and dance, she could “shoot” with her eyes and had an amazing voice, but this is not everything. Obviously, Cleopatra was very exceptional woman and she loved herself, but she also knew how to use beauty secrets of her time. One of her famous beauty secrets was to sleep with a golden mask on her face, but today, we’ll talk about some other, more affordable beauty tips that Queen Cleopatra took advantage of:

1) Cleopatra’s bath of milk and honey.
One of the most famous beauty secrets of Cleopatra was “milk and honey” bath. Cleopatra used to mix milk of a young donkey with fresh honey and almond oil. It’s known that while traveling, she used to take couple of donkeys with her, in case if anytime she wanted to take a bath. We won’t start doing the same, but we can somehow imitate this beauty secret of “eternal youth” from the famous Queen. To prepare the milk and honey bath, mix half cup of honey with 3 cups of milk and add 5 tablespoons almond oil (you can use olive oil instead), then pour this substance into your bath and enjoy gentle and soft skin!

2) Body scrub of beauty Queen:
For better effect of the milk and honey bath, the servants of Cleopatra used to massage her body with amazing, natural body scrub.
You will need: 2 table spoons of sea salt and 3 table spoons of thick cream (natural, flavour free cream).
Mix sea salt with cream and gently rub your body with it in circular motions. Make sure to leave this scrub to sit on your skin for at least 5 minutes, then rinse. This scrub will gently exfoliate your skin and make your body feel smooth and soft like heaven!

3) Face cream of Cleopatra:
Another beauty secret of Cleopatra is a special face cream.
You will need:
2 tablespoons of aloe vera juice,
4 drops of rose essential oil,
1 tablespoon of almond oil,
2 spoons of beeswax.

Slowly heat the beeswax and almond oil till the substance gets liquid, but don’t boil it (you can vary the quantity of beeswax, the more of it you add – the thicker your cream will be). Add aloe vera juice and rose essential oil, mix thoroughly. (Optional: you can add vitamin E capsule into your cream). Let your cream cool down, pour it into a glass container and store in your fridge (it can last for about a week). All the ingredients are totally natural and filled with vitamins. Isn’t it amazing!

4) Refreshing facial mask of Cleopatra:
One of the most famous beauty secrets of pretty Queen Cleopatra was making facial masks with the use of white clay. Here is similar to hers recipe that you can prepare at home using white clay, milk, honey and olive oil (or almond oil).
Mix 2 table spoons of white clay with 2 table spoons of milk, add 1 table spoon of honey and 1 table spoon of olive oil. Apply this mask on your face for 10-15 minutes and then, rinse with lukewarm water. (You can store this mask in the fridge for a couple of days.) Your skin will feel amazingly refreshed and soft.

5) Antiseptic nourishing mask of Cleopatra:
You will need:
– 1 egg yolk
– 1 table spoon of almond oil
– 1 tea spoon of honey

Mix all the ingredients together and apply it on your face for 10-15 minutes. This mask is very refreshing and nourishing! Your skin will like it. (Only make sure you aren’t allergic to the ingredients of this mask)

6) Cleopatra’s natural shampoo:
The secret of beautiful and luxurious hair of Cleopatra is hidden in natural ingredients, one of them is simple egg.
Wipe 3 eggs with water and wash your hair with this self-made, natural shampoo spreading it from the roots to the ends of your hair and then, rinse.

7) Warm oil hair treatment of Cleopatra:
Cleopatra used deep conditioning treatments to make her hair look shiny and silky.
Another one of the beauty secrets of Cleopatra is warm oil treatment:
Mix 2 table spoons of olive oil with 2 table spoons of castor oil, warm the oils up over low heat and massage them into your scalp, spreading on the length of your hair. (Make sure that the oils are comfortable to touch when you apply them on yourself, because we want to be beautiful, not cooked :D). Put on your shower cup and then – towel, wait for 30 minutes or 1 hour (some people even go to sleep with the oil treatment on their head, it might not be very comfortable, but the result is great!); then, wash and condition your hair, as usual. Oil treatments have an amazing effect when done regularly.

8) Cleopatra’s treatment for damaged hair:
Mix 3 table spoons of honey with 1 table spoon of castor oil (if you don’t have castor oil – olive oil will do), apply this substance on your freshly washed hair and let it soak in for 5-15 minutes, then rinse. This natural hair treatment helps to repair damaged hair, giving it more shine and softness.

Excellent homemade beauty recipes! I’m definently going to try them. I love natural/ homemade beauty products. I have a ton of books with a lot of the tried and true homemade beauty recipes that our grandmothers, as well as classic bombshells like Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor used that consist of nothing more than fruits, vegetables and other stuff you can find right in your refrigerator and cupboards (Oatmeal, Honey, Olive Oil, eggs, buttermilk ect) I truly believe that Mother Nature is our most powerful healer. There is a reason that these recipes have been used by the most enchanting women of all time for millennia!

For “great skin” – lots and lots of soap, and after washing and drying, immediately follow with lotions of your choice!
