Beauty sleep is not called that for nothing. While you sleep, your muscles relax, including those in your face, so your skin relaxes too, and this is something it definitely needs. Wrinkles subside, cells regenerate, and that’s even without you using any cosmetic aids. But, since you’re sleeping, why not enhance the effects of sleep on your skin? Overnight beauty treatments are an excellent way to pamper your skin while you sleep, and they don’t require any time management equilibristics on your part. No, you just put on a cream or a mask, and slip into a dream world. Here are nine natural overnight beauty tips that you can try.

1. Moisturise

Relaxed or not, skin loses more moisture during the night, so make sure you apply a moisturising substance on your face and neck before you go to sleep. Almost any vegetable oil is a good choice here, especially deeply moisturising ones like argan oil, sweet almond oil and grapeseed oil. These are extremely rich in polyunsaturated fats and can do wonders for dry skin and wrinkles.

2. Fix your hands

Days are tough for the hands – you touch so many surfaces and have to wash your hands so many times that, unless you’re religiously devoted to hand cream application, you can end up with dry skin that needs taking care of. Do it during the night and don’t be economical with the cream or oil (coconut oil is great). If things are really bad, you can even use a very rich, nourishing and softening cream and put a pair of gloves on for maximum effect.

3. Make your nails stronger

You can also use your beauty sleep time for strengthening and nourishing your nails. There are branded nail strengtheners out there, containing natural ingredients, such as wheat protein and calcium, that can fix brittle nails in no time. Don’t forget your cuticles, which also suffer during the day. Rub in some cream or olive oil in them too to help them regenerate.

One easy way to make natural conditioner consists of mixing four tablespoons of coconut oil, a teaspoon of vitamin E, a teaspoon of jojoba oil, and a few drops of lavender oil. All you need to do is mix them thoroughly and you’ll only need a very, very small amount to make your hair glossier and stronger. Apply it while the hair is wet and leave it overnight.

This one you can do anytime but during the day, after this treatment, you’d have to steer clear of food and drinks for an hour afterwards, so you need to pick the time carefully.
