This also works if you’re just lazy and don’t really care about industrial cosmetics. Fine by us, stay lazy but stay beautiful with these fabulous DIY beauty recipes.

1. Thyme oil

In case you suffer from acne outbreaks, you could switch all those expensive creams for a homemade treatment from thyme and jojoba essential oils. Thyme treats the spots because it has very powerful antibacterial properties, and jojoba soothes the skin. You also get the added cleansing effect of natural oils on the skin. (If suffer from severe acne problems though, we recommend you to see a dermatologist.)

2. Almond body scrub

Exfoliation is important. Here’s how you can do it at home. Take one cup of brown sugar, mix it with half a cup almond oil, two spoonfuls of honey (that’s tablespoons), and a teaspoon of vanilla extract for an additional aromatherapy effect. Massage into the skin after you’ve washed with shower gel, or whatever detergent you use, and pat yourself dry rather than wiping.

3. Tea and honey mask

If you think your face could do with some brightening, mix a small cup of cooled tea, two tablespoons of rice flour and a teaspoon of honey and apply as mask. Leave it for fifteen minutes or until it is completely dry, then wash it off. You can use any tea you like, black, green, or even herbal, they all have beneficial properties for your skin.

4. Yogurt and berry mask

DIY beauty recipes shouldn’t always be complicated. This one’s for glowing skin and for breakfast as well. You need some plain yogurt and any berries that you like: cranberries, blackberries, blueberries, take you pick or mix them all in. Squash them in the yogurt, apply half on your face, and eat the other half. You get glowing skin on the outside and healthy body on the inside!

5. Avocado hair mask

Here is another one of great DIY beauty recipes: you’ll need a ripe avocado, an egg, half a cup of olive oil, and a tablespoon of honey for this nourishing hair mask. First mix the egg yolk with the olive oil, then mash the avocado and add it to the mixture, then add the honey. Apply on the scalp and along the length of your hair and leave for half an hour or an hour, before washing off. It will add shine to your locks and keep your hair well moisturised.

6. Cucumber paste and tomato juice

This mixture is specifically for removing dark circles from under your eyes but you can certainly use it as a whole-face mask. Just make a paste out of fresh cucumber and mix it with some tomato juice, then apply under the eyes and leave it there for five or ten minutes. Both cucumber and tomatoes are full of antioxidants and they have an antiseptic effect, so the mixed juice will cleanse your skin, nourish it and help get rid of any puffiness.

7. Homemade deodorant

How about that? It’s all natural and wouldn’t irritate your skin. Plus, it’s easy to make, as long as you have a hand mixer. You’ll need half a cup of cornstarch, a third of a cup of baking soda, five tablespoons of coconut oil and some essential oil for the fragrance, five to ten drops. Mix it all and put it into an old deodorant container. You can also put it in an old cream box and rub it in with your fingers.

8. Hair conditioner

Who needs expensive conditioners when you can simply use apple vinegar? Here is another one of fabulous DIY beauty recipes:  just mix a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water and pour it on your head after you’ve washed your hair, it will be enough to soften your hair, make it more manageable and a lot shinier, as well. In case you have dandruff, you may mix this with nettles “tea” and rub it into the scalp.

8. Banana mask

In case you have dry skin and you’ve tried everything there is on the market, try this mask too. You’ll need a ripe banana, a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of olive oil. Mash the banana, mix it with the other ingredients and apply the mask. Leave it for about ten minutes and rinse. As you can see honey is a frequent ingredient in face and hair masks. That’s because it’s a mighty moisturiser.

9. Egg white mask

If you’ve done that hair mask with yolks, you may be wondering what to do with the whites. Here’s another one of great DIY beauty recipes of a wonderful exfoliating face mask with oatmeal. You need one tablespoon of oatmeal, another of honey and one egg white. Mix well, apply on your face and leave the mask for ten minutes.
