How to get beautiful feet? 8 Tips to make your toenails and feet look fabulous, ready for summer sandals
Its sandals season ladies! While you’ve been shedding a few pounds and getting in shape for the summer, have you forgotten your feet? Your feet take a pounding all day long, so you need to look after them. Here are eight ways to get your feet ready for your cute wedges and strappy shoes:
1. Wear well fitted shoes
The first step to get the feet that you will be proud of in the summer, is to wear comfortable shoes in the winter. If your shoes don’t fit you properly, then you will get blisters and bunions, so have your shoe size checked and make sure you only wear shoes that fit well.
2. Get the pumice stone and the file out, and exfoliate your feet
Another good tip on how to get beautiful feet is to remove all the dry and hard skin from the soles and sides of your feet, using the the pumice stone and the file. Removing the hard skin will also remove the unsightly cracks and instantly improve the health and the appearance of your feet.
3. Bring back that smooth and soft feel to your feet by hydrating them
Your feet can become dry during the winter months, so hydrate your skin with hydrating oils like sweet almond oil, sesame oil, Shea butter, coconut oil or jojoba oil. Apply the oil, massage in and cover with socks, so you can leave it all night and it will quickly bring back that smooth and soft feel to your feet.
4. How to get beautiful feet? Protect them!
It’s always tempting in the warmer weather to run around barefoot. It might feel free and invigorating, but it’s easy to damage your feet when you do this. Slip on a pair of sandals, even in the garden, and it will stop you treading on something sharp or stubbing your toe.
5. Give your feet a good soak
A regular foot-bath is a nice and relaxing way to keep your feet in good condition. Add some sea salt and/or olive oil to a foot bath and give your feet a treat and it will help keep them smooth and supple. Keep it to around ten minutes only though, or your skin will go too soft and wrinkle.
6 Straight or rounded?
Keep your nails trimmed, but cut them straight, not rounded. If you cut your nails into rounded edges, you are more likely to develop painful ingrown toenails. If you want them to look rounded, cut them straight first and then file the edges into a more rounded shape.
7. Try a salt or sugar scrub
Use a salt or sugar scrub, regularly on your feet and it will help you to avoid the build-up of dead, hardened layers of skin. Mix some sugar or salt in with some olive or coconut oil, and the scrub will gently exfoliate the skin and moisturise it at the same time.
8. Put your feet up to unwind after a day in the sun
To stop your feet from swelling, try and sit with your feet up several times a day. This will allow any excess fluid in your feet drain away, plus it’s a great way to relax and unwind after a day in the sun.
