10 Wedding tips on how to look and feel your best on your wedding day
Every blushing bride wants to look like a fairy-tale princess on her wedding day, but with all the rushing around and the organising that there is to do, it can be easy to forget that this is supposed to be your special day. To look your best, and to feel great on the day, you will need to prepare yourself for the event in advance and stay calm, cool and collected on the day. If your big day is coming up soon, read these ten wedding tips that will help you look and feel your best on your special day.
1. Don’t go on a crash diet right before your wedding day
If you want to lose some weight before the wedding, then stick to a healthy diet and a fitness plan, and start it well before your wedding day. It’s really not a good idea to go on a crash diet, just weeks before the day, because you will have already had your dress fitted and a lack of food could make you tired on the day, or even make you feel dizzy and unwell.
2. Perfect your smile
You will be the centre of attention on the big day and the star of a hundred photos, so another one of useful wedding tips is to practice that smile, because you are going to be using it a lot. You might also want to check out your teeth and see if they could do with a bit of whitening. Use whitening toothpaste for a few months before your wedding, if you aren’t lucky enough to have pearly white teeth naturally.
3. Don’t leave anything to the last minute
The sooner you start preparing for your wedding, the easier it will be on the day. It goes without saying that you will have chosen your dress in advance, but how about your hair? Choose a hairstyle that will go well with the dress, and try it out well before the wedding day. You don’t want to find out at the last minute that you hate the style that you thought would look great.
4. Practice your makeup
Another one of great wedding tips is to practice your wedding day makeup in advance. Practice makes perfect and you certainly don’t want to be experimenting in the morning of your wedding. Make a checklist of all the tools and cosmetics that you will need, so you don’t find that something is missing at the very last minute.
5. Take extra care of your skin in the weeks before the wedding
Be very careful that you take care of your skin in the weeks running up to the wedding and, if you are thinking of getting something special done, like a chemical peel, consult a specialist well in advance of the wedding. You really don’t want a bright red face on the day of your wedding, nor do you want the largest pimple the world has ever seen, so follow your cleansing and skin care regime, and don’t do anything too drastic to your skin, too close to the actual day of the wedding.
6. Get professional manicure
Everyone is going to be looking at that ring on your finger, so it’s a good idea to get a professional manicure done, so that your nails are just perfect on the day. This shouldn’t be done too far in advance, though, or a chip or broken nail could ruin it before the wedding has even begun.
7. Get an early night, the night before
Our list of wedding tips wouldn’t be complete without mentioning this one: be sure to get to bed nice and early the night before the wedding, and don’t drink any alcohol. You will want to look bright and radiant for the wedding photos, so a good night’s sleep will be essential. Avoid alcohol for a few days before the wedding too. Alcohol can dehydrate you, and it can affect your sleep and your complexion.
8. Eat a light meal on the eve of the wedding
Next one of useful wedding tips is to have a quiet night in on the evening before your wedding and only eat a light meal. If you have a really big, heavy meal, it could make you bloat and you will feel uncomfortable on the day. Do eat something though, however nervous and excited you are feeling. A loud, rumbling tummy on the big day would be just as embarrassing as a bloated one!
9. Let other people sort out any problems on the day
If Auntie Doris is refusing to sit next to Auntie Marge at the reception, or Granddad has one too many glasses of champagne, let someone else sort out the problem! This is your special day, so don’t get involved in any of the little hiccups that will probably occur.
10. Enjoy the moment
And finally, one of the most important wedding tips is to enjoy that special day as much as you can. Planning, preparing, and practicing everything in advance is the way to ensure that you look great on the day and feel completely at ease. Once you get to that special day, though, try to relax and enjoy the moment. If you have a stray hair, your makeup didn’t quite look the way you thought it would, or even if you fluff your lines during the ceremony; forget it; no one else will notice anyway.
