10 Awesome hush-hush beauty tips and tricks that will help you look less tired
Whatever the reason, work, a baby or an all-nighter, we all get those mornings after the night before, when we wished we could have just squeezed in a couple of hours more sleep. When getting some more sleep is not an option, but you still don’t want to look like you’ve been up all night, here are ten beauty tips and tricks on how to look a little less tired and hide the fact that you didn’t get to bed at all last night:
1. A splash of cold water will work wonders
The first step is an easy one. Just splash some cold water on your face, and the colder the better! This will wake you up and it will also wake up your skin. Cold water will make the blood vessels in your skin contract and give you a smoother, less tired looking complexion.
Next, apply plenty of, moisturiser. This will lock in the moisture from the cold water splash and it will also reduce dryness in the skin and reduce the appearance of any lines or wrinkles.
3. How to reduce puffy eyes?
Assuming that you’ve left yourself enough time, attending to those puffy eyes would be a good idea. Place a chilled slice of cucumber or raw potato over your eyes for 5 to 10 minutes and it will reduce puffiness and lighten dark circles under your eyes.
4. Suck on an ice cube
Another way to make to reduce blotching on the skin that is caused by tiredness is to suck on an ice cube. The cold ice in your mouth will tell your brain that you are cold, so it will constrict the blood vessels and so, tighten up the skin and give you a more even skin tone.
5. Skip the powder and heavy foundation, use concealer sparingly
Don’t go too heavy on powder or foundation, as that will just make things worse. Opt instead for a light weight foundation, a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream to even out your skin tone and disguise any paleness or blotches. If the dark circles under your eyes look too obvious and you don’t have time to catch up on some extra sleep, then apply concealer to these areas and blend very well, and your dark circles will magically disappear. 6. Open up your eyes
Your eyes are the biggest giveaway that you haven’t had enough sleep, so be sure to curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and, then finish with mascara for some extra lift. To open up your eyes even more add a light shimmery colour to your inner corners. You’ll see the difference these tricks will make!
7. Brighten your eyes
A pretty well known trick, but one not to be forgotten, especially, on days when you are looking tired, is to use white or nude eyeliner to brighten up your eyes. The eyeliner will cover any redness around your eyes and make them look more like they are sparkling.
8. Use a gloss on your lips
Skip the matte lipstick, as that will make your lips look even more dehydrated. Use a lip gloss or tinted balm instead to add colour, as well as moisture to your dry lips.
9. Give yourself a glow with some blush and bronzer
If you’ve had no sleep, then one thing that will be missing is some colour in your face. Brighten up the apples of your cheeks with a fresh peachy or rosy blush; it will help to keep the attention away from your eyes too, and a few quick and light swipes of bronzer will also help add beautiful fresh summery glow to your skin.
10. Wear hair down
Brush your hair, use a dry shampoo if you need to, and leave your hair down for the day. If you pull your hair tight in a ponytail, it will only emphasize your lacklustre skin and tired eyes.
And when you get home after your hectic and busy day, make sure to get plenty of sleep!
