10 Beauty tips, secrets and tricks from Victoria’s Secret models

Every year since 1985, some of the world most beautiful models have gathered together to appear in what has become the world best known fashion show. While there is no doubt that Victoria’s Secret Angels are naturally gorgeous looking already, no one can look perfect every single day, so there are still some amazing beauty tips that we pick up from them. So, let’s take a peek backstage at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and find out about some of the secret beauty tips and tricks from the Victoria’s Secret models.

1. Eat well for perfect skin

For flawless, radiant skin, Candice Swanepoel says that diet is the main thing to concentrate on. She insists that it is her healthy diet that is responsible for her beautiful skin and she is always careful about what she eats. She always makes sure that she gets plenty of Vitamin C and D in her diet, because she believes that you can’t have glowing skin if you don’t eat the right kinds of food.

2. Save the blow dryer for special occasions

The Victoria’s Secrets model’s hair always looks shiny and bouncy too, and it makes you wonder if they ever have a bad hair day like the rest of us do. Victoria’s Angel, Lindsay Ellingson, says that her secret to perfect looking hair is to treat it kindly. She doesn’t shampoo every day and she uses a leave in conditioner when she does wash her hair. He also says that the only time she uses a blow dryer on her hair is on the days that she is working.

3. Keep lips well hydrated

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley always has beautiful, soft looking lips and she says that she keeps them looking that way by exfoliating them regularly and keeping them well hydrated. Her tip is to use a lip scrub regularly and using a lip ointment daily. If she ever finds herself without any lip scrub, she gently rubs her lips with a towel to remove any dead skin.

4. Stay fresh with rosewater

Behati Prinsloo says she never goes anywhere without a bottle of rosewater in her bag. She uses it to freshen and rehydrate her skin, which is especially useful when she’s travelling. It balances out the PH off her skin and it brings back the natural tone. The other great thing about rosewater, she says, is that you can use it any time and it won’t ruin your makeup.

5. Use lip balm on your cheeks

Bregje Heinen has a couple of beauty secrets to share with us. Firstly, her two main tips for daily beauty care are to always moisturise, and always take care of your eyebrows by filling in any sparse patches, which helps to define your face. She also says that a touch of lip balm on your cheeks will help to give you a healthy looking glow.

6. Drink hot water in the mornings and at night

Josephine Skriver got this tip from a Chinese makeup artist and the model swears it keeps her skin clear. She drinks a cup of hot water, first thing every morning and last thing at night. Josephine says the water must be hot, and that it works like cleaning out a drain! We guess she means that it flushes out the toxins and that’s why it helps keep her skin looking great.

7. Wake up your eyes with an eyelash curler

Using an eyelash curler to open up your eyes is hardly the best kept secret of the fashion world, but the fact that Sigrid Agren says that her eyes are often the only part of her face that she uses makeup on may surprise you. She says that, on the days that she doesn’t have to work, all she does is curl her lashes and she applies a little bit of gel to her eyebrows.

8. Highlight and shimmer

Eniko Mihalik had some pretty traditional advice too when she said that her top tip was to drink plenty of water. She did add though, that she uses highlight and shimmer to lift her face and make it look a lot fresher. She says the parts of her face that she uses highlighter and shimmer on the top of her lip, under her brow line, on her nose, and at the top of her cheekbones.

9. Steam for glowing, clear skin

Selita Ebanks recommends that a 20 minute steam in the gym, twice a month; it will keep your skin looking clean and fresh and give it a glow. If you don’t want to go a gym, you could always hold your face under a bowl of steaming water for twenty minutes, with a towel over your head, and that would have the same effect.

10. Cut out alcohol

Even though Constance Jablonski never drinks very much alcohol, she cuts it out altogether for at least two weeks before she does a show. Some say that a glass of red wine is good for you, but Constance Jablonski says that the sugar in wine is not the best thing for you if you want to have a clear complexion.
