10 Little known beauty hacks every girl should know
Just when you thought you knew all the beauty hacks that there were to know, we come up with ten more for you! We love sharing beauty tips and hacks and we can never get enough them ourselves. After all, who doesn’t want to learn new ways to save money and time and find neat ways to do things? Here are ten more wonderful beauty hacks that you may not have heard of before, but that every girl should know.
1. Turn ordinary shampoo into clarifying shampoo with baking soda
If you’ve visited our site before, then you will know that we are fans of clarifying shampoo. Used every so often, it cleans your hair, deep down, and it removes all the build-up of product that can accumulate on your hair, which can make your hair look dull and lifeless. If you don’t have any clarifying shampoo, just mix a bit of baking soda in with your regular shampoo and it will do the same job.
2. How to get a straight part in your hair every time
The easiest way to get a guaranteed straight parting in your hair is to draw your comb through your hair, from the forehead to the crown, and do it as fast as you can. If you go slowly and try to be too careful about it, your hand will wobble and you will get a wonky parting.
3. Wait for mascara to dry before you try and get it off your face
Everyone gets the odd drop of mascara on the skin around their eyes while applying makeup. The trick to removing it easily is to let it dry first. Then, you can simply flick it off with the end of a cotton tip. If the mascara is completely dry, it will come off with absolutely no smudges or smears.
4. Use lip balm on shaving nicks
Shaving nicks on your legs can be really annoying, especially if you are in a rush to get out. Pop a little lip balm on a nick in your skin and it will stop the bleeding and help it to heal up faster.
5. Lengthen lashes with baby powder
False lashes can damage your real lashes when you pull them off, so here’s a great tip to get long lashes without any glue. Apply a first coat of mascara and then dust some baby powder over it. Then, apply a second coat of mascara over the top of that and you have much thicker and longer lashes, than you have ever had before. It’s like natural extensions without all the fuss!
6. Use baby wipes instead of makeup wipes
Baby wipes make a great replacement for makeup wipes. They are gentler on your skin and they cost a lot less as well. Baby wipes are always good to have around, because they remove makeup, mop up spills, and you can get small makeup stains off your clothes with them too.
7. Create natural looking waves in your hair without any heat
Using heated tools damages your hair, so here’s a way to get a wave, without any heat and no tools at all. All you have to do is to put your hair into tight braids when you go to bed and leave them in, all night. When you get up in the morning, loosen the braids, scrunch them with your hands and, apply a light spray of hairspray. You will have beautiful, natural looking waves and the curling iron will not have been anywhere near your hair.
8. Create the perfect French manicure with a Band-Aid
Band-Aids have just the right rounded ends to create a stencil for a French manicure. Stick the end of a Band-Aid on your nail, with the rounded end pointing toward the tip of your nail, a short distance from the tip. Apply your nail polish and let it dry. When you peel off the Band-Aid, you will be left with perfectly shaped French manicure. The Band-Aids that have air holes in them are also great for using as a stencil to create nail art.
9. Bring a powered compact back to life with rubbing alcohol
If you drop a powder compact, it can smash into tiny pieces that are impossible to use. So long as the broken pieces haven’t scattered all across the floor, don’t throw it away, because it can be saved. Add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the broken pieces, and then smooth the paste back down into the compact. Leave it dry overnight, and voila, you will have one resurrected powder compact.
10. Save the last remnants of your lipsticks
When you get to the end of a lipstick, don’t toss it away, because we have another good use that you can put that to as well. Take your collection of worn out lipsticks and scrape the contents out into separate compartments of a pill box. Heat it up with a blow dryer until all the lipstick melts, place it into an empty lipstick palette, and you will have created your very own, homemade, lipstick palette.
