10 Great natural home remedies with the use of honey
People have known about the beauty benefits of honey for centuries. But it is only fairly recently that science found out exactly why Cleopatra and many other beautiful women through the years were right to use honey in their beauty regimes. Natural, raw honey is full of antioxidants that will help slow down the signs of ageing, it’s a great skin moisturiser and it also contains anti-bacterial agents that will fight infections. Honey is probably the closest you will ever get to a magical beauty potion, so read on and find out about ten great natural home remedies that use honey.
1. Honey and oil facial cleanser
Honey is great for removing the last traces of makeup and moisturising your skin. You can make a simple honey cleanser by mixing honey with coconut oil, which will form an easy to apply mixture. Apply the mixture to your skin and it will lift any last traces of makeup from your skin, clean out your pores and moisturise your skin too.
2. Honey hair rinse
For a very simple hair rinse that will put the shine and the bounce back in your hair, simply combine a tablespoon of honey with a jug of warm water, add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and mix it in. Shampoo your hair as usual, and then rinse your hair with the honey mixture; wait for about 3-5 minutes and wash off with water.
3. Honey skin conditioner
To keep your skin healthy and glowing, you can also use raw honey as a skin conditioner. Mix a teaspoon of honey with a tablespoon of sweet almond oil (or olive oil) and a teaspoon of fresh lime juice. Rub the mixture into your skin while in the shower, and leave it on for about ten minutes, before washing off again with warm water. The mixture will clean and moisturise your skin and leave it glowing and silky smooth.
4. Honey and sugar lip scrub
For perfect looking lips, it’s important to keep your lips exfoliated, so that lipstick adheres to the lips properly and you don’t have flakes of dead skin ruining your smooth lipstick. To create your own luscious homemade honey and sugar lip scrub, you just need to mix together one teaspoon of honey with a teaspoon of brown sugar and a couple of drops of lemon juice. Gently rub your lips with the mixture and then leave it on for five minutes, before washing off.

Try this recipe for a great all over body scrub that you can use on your face or your body. For use on just your face, mix one teaspoon of honey with one teaspoon of ground almonds and add a tablespoon of sweet almond oil (or sesame seed oil), or for use on your body just increase the quantities of the same ingredients and add some sea salt. When you use the scrub, rub it into your skin with a circular motion and rinse off with warm water.
6. Honey and milk bath
A milk and honey bath is said to have been Cleopatra’s favourite beauty treatment, and who are we to argue with Cleopatra! Then, sit back, relax and let all those wonderful nutrients work their magic on your skin.

9. Honey acne treatment
Persistent acne is a problem that many people suffer from and honey makes a great acne treatment that won’t dry out your skin like commercial, chemical based, acne treatments can. Honey works on acne two ways: it draws impurities out of the pores and it has powerful anti-bacterial properties that will fight the bacteria that cause acne. Here is how you can create a very effective acne spot treatment: mix half a tablespoon of raw organic honey with the same amount of cinnamon, then add a sprinkle of turmeric powder and freshly grated nutmeg. Apply this treatment on an acne breakout and wait for twenty or thirty minutes before washing off.
10. Honey razor bump treatment
Now that the summer has come around again, the last thing a girl needs is unsightly razor bumps that can appear after shaving. To soothe the burn and to help stop razor bumps forming, apply the mixture of raw honey and coconut oil to the skin, straight away after shaving, and leave it in for about ten minutes, before washing off.
