It may just be that you need to get a good night’s sleep, drink more water and eat more healthily. If you’ve tried all that and your skin still doesn’t have the glowing look that you want it to, try some of these wonderful facial masks that will brighten up dull skin fast.

1. Tomato and yoghurt

This is a really simple facial mask recipe that will exfoliate your skin and lighten any scars and blemishes that you may have. Exfoliation is always a good first step to brighten up skin, because it removes the dead skin cells that could be what is causing your skin to look dull. Take a teaspoon of freshly made tomato paste (just blend some tomatoes in a blender) and mix it with two teaspoons of plain yoghurt. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for around 10 minutes.

Lemon brightens and exfoliates the skin, while the honey will fight acne causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. Mix up one tablespoon of lemon juice with two tablespoons of honey. Apply it to your skin and leave it on for about 10 minutes. (If you have sensate skin, it’s best to avoid this treatment, as it might be too harsh for delicate sensitive skin).

3. Papaya and yoghurt

Papaya contains a natural ingredient called papain, which gently bleaches the skin and lightens dark patches and blemishes. Blend half a cup of papaya into a paste and then stir in a tablespoon of plain yoghurt. Apply to your face and leave it to sit for ten minutes before you wash it off again with warm water. The combination of papaya and yoghurt will brighten your complexion and firm up the skin.
